BBC Parents – support your child’s education
Noticed today on the BBC Parents site a search engine for educational games and resources. Could be useful to build home/school bridges.
Primary Games Arena
Primary Games Arena is a collection of largely flash based activities which spans a great deal of the primary curriculum.
Teachers TV: ICT Week
Tricia Neal points out to me that this week on Teacher TV is ICT Week. The programmes are on using games, data handling, presentations, on-line communities, video, copyright and e-safety.
Practise, practise, practise
There seems to be a spate of sites coming my way at the moment which have a number of good activities for enthusiastic practictioners to include in their daily literacy, numeracy and science work. Rather like the Nintendo DS these could easily help to bridge the gap between home and school and could certainly motivate some children to learn.
The first is from the USA and is called Math Playground and you have to learn to live with the adverts etc.
The second comes out of the BBC stable and is called Gut Instinct … a presentation from Viral Vinnie … full of entertaining graphics and rude noises. Kids will love it!! Might be difficult to get the level right.
